Reindeer Droppings - Burringham Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

T1ffer: Lost the will or inclination to go caching lately and haven't the time to maintain this one at the moment so I'm archiving it before the Reviewer does. Sorry folks, may turn up in another form elsewhere later.

Geocache Description:

Reindeer Droppings - Burringham

A small 220ml clip-lock box hidden on the River Trent bank in my Home village. Room for only small swaps and please replace the contents as found as everything only just fits in! Please re-hide as found making sure the cache container is hidden. Thank you.

Parking is suggested in the car park of the village pub at additional waypoint N 53° 34.616 W 000° 44.083 for the shortest route. The cache may also be approached from the Riverside car park at additional waypoint N 53° 34.249 W 000° 44.686 if you prefer a slightly longer walk. There should be no problems for those with young children as cache is well away from the water's edge.

Not many caches out in my neck of the woods so I thought I'd place my second cache not far from home.

A pleasant walk with lovely River views suitable for most people. Watch out for dog-walking Muggles and please try to avoid revealing the cache location to them.

Geography

Burringham village lies on the B1450 on the east bank of the River Trent about one mile south of Gunness on the outskirts of Scunthorpe. Its main road High Street, is often used as a shortcut to the Ashby area of Scunthorpe.

History

The village school is Gunness & Burringham C of E Primary School in Gunness. The parish church is dedicated to St John the Baptist and designed by Samuel Sanders Teulon. It used to share the Gunness and Burringham railway station.

For those curious about the Cache name: I attended the 2010 Yorkshire Day event at the Reindeer Inn in Overton, West Yorkshire, organised by MikeG. He placed some containers in a Bonus cache at the event for cachers to take and use for their own hides. The only stipulation made was that anyone placing caches In these boxes prefix the cache name with "Reindeer Droppings" so he can see where they ended up. So thanks to Mike for the container.
