Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the above co-ordinates. The nights are now drawing in so I thought I’d give you all a couple of puzzles to mull over on an evening. There are 2 caches – ‘Squirrel Ditch’ and ‘Squirrel Den?’ Both require some paperwork exercise before going hunting!

Once you have solved the first puzzle, it will give you the co-ordinates of the first cache – Squirrel Ditch. The co-ordinates for Squirrel Den can be found on the lid of Squirrel Ditch, however there is a catch – some of the digits are missing. you are looking for a small clip top box, with FTF badge and a few small goodies. There is plenty of parking on nearby Wood Lane. Entrance to the woods is via Squirrel Ditch, through the lovely old stone posts. After finding the feeder cache and the rest of the co-ordinates for this one, you need to continue following the path into the woods. The woods have Longley Golf Course on one side and a lovely old building high up on the other side. This is the original Longley Hall School, known as Longley New Hall, despite dating back to 1577. This grade 2 listed building is currently undergoing renovation. As you walk through the woods you will see evidence of old masonry all over – carved stones and toppings. The path, although well defined, does get muddy in places. there is also running water near by so please watch small children. To get the missing co-ordinates you need to solve the following puzzle correctly. Hint – they are all sport related facts, board game related, tv/film programmes, nursery rhymes or plain simple facts…ie 24 H in a D = 24 hours in a day 1) 60 S in a M 2) 12 M in a Y 3) 1969 FM on the M 4) 360 D in a C 5) 1 F in the G 6) 8 V of J in S 7) 11 P in a CT 8) 3 M and a B 9) 4 W and a F 10) 26 L in the A 11) 3 BM 12) 180 TS in D 13) G in 60 S 14) 64 S on a CB 15) 18 H on a GC 16) 10 GB (H on a W) 17) A the W in 80 D 18) 147 MB in S 19) 12 M of a J 20) 57 HV How many of the answers are sport related? = A How many answers are nursery rhymes? = B How many answers are tv programmes/films? = C How many answers are board game related? = D The co-ordinates are as follows with $ being the digits that can be found in the feeder cache ‘squirrel ditch’ N$$ $$.(C²xA) x (C-B) W$$$ $$.(A+B+C+D) x (C-D) x (A+B+D) check your answers with geochecker http://www.geochecker.com/index.php?code=b8c24cb6ffba1951425c97e541447276&action=check&wp=47433246344e51&name=537175697272656c2044656e As the GPS in these woods is very hit and miss here is a further clue. When you come to the fallen stone gatepost lying across the footpath, the cache is approx 30ft away. when i got to this point tonight whilst checking my coords it was showing on gps as 60ft away, whereas yesterday it took me straight there!!
