Cache Info: This cache is an ammo can located in the heart of the historic 105-acre Wilburn Farm.

Wilburn Farm and the now-collapsing farm house are believed to date back to the late 1800s. The farm was abandoned during the great depression of the 1930s. In 1953 it was purchased by Ross Wilburn who repaired the house, built the pond, and built a horse barn. DeKalb County acquired the farm in 2000, and it became part of the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. The Nature Preserve opened the farm to public access in 2010.

A more detailed history of the farm is in the cache. Please leave the history information sheet in the cache when you depart.

This nature preserve, like other Georgia woodlands, has ticks during all but the winter season. Take precautions that include wearing a hat, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants with legs tucked into socks. Wear light colored clothing for ease of spotting ticks, especially deer ticks that are the size of a pin head. Use bug spray with the chemical DEET and especially spray around the ankle area. Additional info for tick prevention measures.
