Zavratnica is a small bay opposite to the island Rab within the Kvarner Gulf. The bay is under nature protection.
The highlight in this pictorial bay is a wreck of a Siebel ferry from the German Wehrmacht. On August 25th 1944 five British aircrafts attacked two ferries in the bay. One of them had severe damage so that it sunk and still lies at the same position. You can get more information about the ship and aircrafts in the bay.
From the viewpoint where you will find the cache, you have a wonderful view down to the bay and to the wreck. We recommend to drive down to dive in the bay at the wreck. The access is via Jablanac, where the ferry starts to island Rab. You have to pay to enter the bay. The price is 5 Euro per person. It's definitely worth viewing it from the bay!

The cache is at the viewpoint. Coming from the large road along the coast you have to turn at the sign "Zavratnica" and follow the small road. You can park at the viewpoint. You can also walk up from the bay.

Zavratnica ist eine kleine Bucht gegenüber der Insel Rab in der Kvarner Bucht. Die Bucht steht unter Naturschutz.
Das Highlight in dieser malerischen Bucht ist das Wrack einer sogenannten Siebelfähre der Wehrmacht. Am 25. August 1944 wurden zwei damals in der Bucht stationierten Fähren von fünf britischen Jagdfliegern attackiert. Eine der beiden Fähren wurde dabei so stark beschädigt, dass sie sank und bis heute an der gleichen Stelle liegt. Vom Aussichtspunkt, an dem sich auch der Cache befindet, hat man einen tollen Blick in die Bucht und auch auf das Wrack. Sehr zu empfehlen ist, zur Bucht hinab zu fahren und einmal selbst am Wrack zu tauchen. Den Zugang erreicht man über den Ort Jablanac, bei welchem auch die Fähre zur Insel Rab abfährt. Für die Bucht selbst muss man Eintritt bezahlen, zuletzt waren es 5 Euro pro Person. Es lohnt sich aber in jedem Fall!

Zum Cache:
Der Cache befindet sich am Aussichtspunkt. Von der Küstenstraße aus biegt man am Schild "Zavratnica" ab und fährt dann eine sehr schmale Straße bis zum Aussichtspunkt. Hier kann man auch Parken. Alternativ kann man auch von der Bucht nach oben wandern, hier gibt es einen Wanderweg.
