The co-ordinates given are not those of the cache but for the main
car park in Alfreton. Current rates are 70p for 2 hours though free
parking is available nearby...
At just over 4 miles, this is a circular walk from Alfreton to
Oakerthorpe, passing 2 pubs and several scenic viewpoints and
should take 2 to 3 hours depending on how long the hunting takes
and how much scenery you take in!
The series comprises 6 caches which contain clues on the front of
the log which you will need to determine the location of the
finale.
Although intended to be completed as a walk, several are close to
the road and can be done quickly from a car. It is recommended you
start at Alfreton and walk clockwise to be in position for this
cache but again, they can be completed in any order and either
direction.
The majority of the paths are dirt tracks and will be muddy in wet
weather. There are several styles to cross so wheeled access is not
recommended. The suggested route between #3 and #4 follows a
footpath that passes by another cache and then run across the side
of a hill. Alternative access is possible along Chesterfield road
but there is no pavement so please bear this in mind.
The cache is a camouflaged ammo can with swaps and a log. Tales of
your adventures would be much appreciated!
A disposable camera is also included for snapshots of the happy
hunters! Please take pictures and leave the camera, I will develop
and scan sometime in the future.
