Geocache Description:

A nice family friendly cache hidden within Carmel Woods Conservation Area in Andover, MA The forest covering most of the hillside is composed of pines and mixed hardwoods. Many interesting rock formations and ferns can be observed on the open ledges at the top of the hill.

PortJumpPete owned this cache from 2010–2017 before I adopted it. This was my second cache find and I wanted to keep it alive because it is very easy and great for beginners. PortJumpPete, 2010: CONGRATS TO AIRBLAZER FOR BEING FTF AND HER FIRST FTF! This is a small-to-regular size cache hidden just off the main trail in Carmel Woods. It's just slightly smaller than a 7.52mm Ammo Box. My 2 little boys (2 and 5) like to come with me sometimes and it's not always easy finding ones they can do at their age, so I wanted to make one that would be good for anyone including families with little ones. There are some slight elevation changes, and some fallen trees across the trail that an adult can easily step over, but little ones will need a hand. Small travel bugs and geocoins are welcome; initial cache contents are 3 shiny beaded necklaces, 3 lanyards, 3 'monster' finger puppets, a new Shrek 'Donkey' digital watch and a collapsible frisbee toy. This is a conservation area; stay on the trails and practice CITO, please. Please sign the log and replace the cache as found. This cache is located off the main trail, down a little side trail that looks like it just stops in the woods, but will lead you to the cache. PLEASE REHIDE CACHE WELL! Coordinates listed are for the cache; I have listed parking coordinates below but it may still be difficult to find. The trail head and parking area at the end of Carmel Road off of Walnut Street.
