Located on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River, north part of the city
This is an ideal cache for those with who have mountain cycles, and are not afraid to use them. For the benefit of out of town folks I am going to show two public parking areas you can make use of.
Parking #1. Located at 52 09.216 and W 106 37.364. This is an off lease dog parking area that is north of the Preston Crossing Shopping Mall. To get to this area, and it is north of the Circle Drive Freeway, you have to go to Attridge Drive and Central Avenue. Turn north and almost immediately you have to turn left (west). Drive approximately 1km to the parking area. From there you cycle or walk north , through a gate, then east, then north to the cache. This is not an easy hike and is approximately 1.3km one way. Parking #2. Located approximately .5 km north of the pysc center on Central Avenue. At Attridge Avenue and Central Avenue, you drive north , past the pysc center, and there is parking area on the west side of the road. From here to within 80meters of the cache is a well maintained gravel hiking trail. However you cannot get down the steep bank from that location. Go south approximately 300 meters, past a big rock, and from there you can hike down the steep bank, and backtrack to the cache.
I discovered this area several falls ago, when cycling. The beavers have gnawed down 100s of trees in this immediate area. Please re-cover the container so it cannot be seen from the trail. Take along your camera.
Update: October 15, 2014. I cycled in from the south and seven minutes of my 40 minute endurance ride can be found on my you tube page in case you are interested.
