The Enchanted Mountains GeoTrail (EMGT) ENDED October 31, 2013, after four great years!
The geocache hidden at the posted coordinates is a regular geocache that was part of the Enchanted Mountains GeoTrail (EMGT). This trail was a project of Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning & Tourism and the Enchanted Mountains of Cattaraugus County.
It had been developed to encourage visiting cachers and residents to explore the hidden parts of Cattaraugus County as they travel the highways and byways of the Enchanted Mountains. Please be sure to check out the newer geotrail, the NY Amish Geo Trail (NYAGT)!
Onoville received its name in a unique way. Legend has it, a meeting was held to name it and for every suggestion thrown out, someone responded "O no, we can't call it that". Finally someone said, how about Onoville? And so the name has stuck. While here, be sure to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the Allegheny Reservoir.
You can park at the coordinates listed, or drive in close to ground zero when the marina is open. The Recreation Area Manager has stated those looking for the cache can just let the attendee know and will be allowed to park near the cache for free. Normally, there is a fee to enter the marina area during the season.
