Die Alte Brücke (serbokroatisch Stari most) ist das namensgebende Wahrzeichen der Stadt Mostar in Bosnien-Herzegowina. Sie überspannt die Neretva und verbindet den mehr bosniakisch geprägten Ostteil mit dem stärker kroatisch geprägten Westteil der Stadt. Mit einer lichten Weite von 28,7 Meter und 19 m Höhe (im Scheitelpunkt über der Neretva) war sie zur Zeit ihrer Erbauung ein Meisterwerk der Ingenieurbaukunst.
The old bridge (in Serbo-Croatian Stari most) is the name-giving landmark of the city of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She spans the Neretva and connects the east part stamped more bosniakisch with the stronger Croatian stamped west part of the town. With a bright width of 28.7 metres and 19-m height (in the apex about the Neretva) it was at the moment of her construction a masterpiece of the civil engineering work art.
Das Bogenmauerwerk, die Brüstungen und die Widerlager-Stirnwände bestanden aus Ooidkalkstein, eine regionalen Besonderheit in dem Gebiet um Mostar und dort unter dem Namen TENELIJA bekannt. Für die Bauwerke an den beiden Ufern wurde ein feinkörniges Kalksteinkonglomerat, örtlich "Sandstein" genannt, sowie sehr grob behauener Kalkstein verwendet. Für die Fahrbahn hatte man ein härteres Gestein gewählt: fein bearbeiteter dolomitischer Kalkstein, örtlich "Marmor" genannt, der treppenförmig verlegt wurde. Das Baumaterial für die Widerlagerflügel stammt aus dem grobkörnigen und porösen Konglomeratgestein direkt von den Uferbänken der Neretva, das örtlich als BRECA bezeichnet wird.
The curve masonry, the balustrades and the abutment-forehead walls existed of Ooidkalkstein, a regional specific feature in the area around Mostar and there under the name TENELIJA famously. For the buildings on both shores a fine-grained limestone conglomerate, called locally "sandstone", as well as very roughly hewn limestone became used. For the roadway one had chosen a harder rock: finely worked on dolomitischer limestone, called locally "the marble" which was moved stair-shaped. The building material for the abutment wings comes from the coarse grained and porous conglomerate rock directly from the bank benches of the Neretva which is called locally BRECA.
