This one takes you to the very top of Red Mountain, to a radio tower and helicopter pad (which the cache is named after). While your up there you may find another type of "cache".
Approx 2 years ago from today (April 23 2010) I first learned about geocaching from a novel I read. Because it was in a novel, I wasn't sure if it was real or not, but because it sounded SO cool I thought I'd check it out. Turns out, Geocaching is real (who would have guessed) and I made my account on April 23, 2008. So for my "2nd Geo-birthday" I decided to do some geocaching. We (my dad and I) went out and found "2" caches, hoping to get "2nd" to find on both, but were a few days late. After that we went farther up the mountain and hide my "2nd" ever geocache. So in short, this cache is to celebrate my "2nd" Geo-birthday
The cache is on the very top of the mountain, next to a radio tower and a helicopter pad. This is quite the hike, so bring some water, maybe something to eat, your camera as there is a nice view, and who knows, a helicopter may just land while your there! The trail goes from a logging road, to a well marked trail, to a lesser marked trail, to basically a deer path. The only thing it isn't, is a paved highway. Because the day before I hid the cache was Earth day, I decided to recycle and use a old plastic food container as the cache container. (don't worry, I cleaned it out)
PLEASE REFER TO THE WAY POINTS! THE TOWER AND HELI PAD ARE VERY HARD TO FIND! Also, it is not recommend that you do this in the winter.
