Geocache Description:

A very pleasant unspoilt and beautiful riverside walk with lovely views. About one and a half miles return trip. Proper outdoor footwear required in wet weather. Grassy path (some nettles) all the route. One stream to cross. Please be aware of electric cattle fence beside the path on part of walk. (Well signposted)

****Please do not drive down Drumtian Road from the North, there is no parking and private residences only****. ...............Start this walk at the bridge over the Endrick on the Balfron Station Road N56 03.687 W004 21.862 There is room on the grass on both sides of the bridge for a few cars. (After prolonged rain it is not possible to cross stream, in this case use cash and dash spot found later in decription) It is an interesting starting point as this is where the Loch Katrine pipeline crosses the river, you will notice that the original Victorian bridge is no longer in use for traffic as a burst water supply pipe some four feet in diameter literally exploded within the bridge a few years ago, luckily the bridge survived with it,s unusual architecture on the inside of it's arches intact. A new road bridge was built alongside to carry road traffic and another bridge next to that to carry the replacement water pipes from Loch Katrine.
Other point of interest here is the Alpaca farm next to the bridge, these curious creatures are in two fields next to the road, they seem to come in a wide range of colours.
If you approach parking from the South there is the Carbeth Home Farm a few hundred yards before the bridge, it has a little self service stall on the road that has excellent hen and duck eggs and vegetables for sale.
Set off on the walk on the North bank of the river, follow it till you come to a stream joining the Endrick, normally you can cross this easily, however after prolonged rain crossing could be too difficult, use your own judgement depending on footwear, proceed along riverbank to GZ.
The track you will find here used to ford the river at an angle and the exit point was just beside the recent footbridge.
Cache should be an easy find to the right of galvanised gate.................For cache and dash cachers it is possible to drive right down to the footbridge on the Drumtian Ford Road from the South, room for a couple of cars, this takes you to about 100 metres from cache, but then you would miss the lovely riverside walk.
