Geocache Description:


This is an historic location. On this lot behind you, once stood the old Summerton High School. Then, the newer Summerton High School was built right across the highway. For those not from Summerton, this was the site of the VERY FIRST court case of integration in the country. The case was filed as Briggs vs. Elliott, and by the time it made its way to the Supreme Court, it had been pooled with several other lawsuites from around the country. Every now and then, there will be an article in "The State" newspaper about this being "Where it all began. I was in the first grade in 1953, and remember that there was a lot of activity going on that day. However, I had no idea what it was all about.

You are looking for a small pill tube that has been painted to make it not too obvious. There is a log only, so BYOP. At times muggles may be present.
