Geocache Description:

All 120(at least) of us tip our hats to the Lackey's at Groundspeak.

Join us to celebrate TEN YEARS of GEOCACHING.

at

MILLY's TAVERN

MAY 2nd

6:00 - 8:00 pm

Since Sunday night's are not usually very busy we will be meeting in the Pub area.

Let's make this the best event in the world.

Thank you to Landsharkz.ca for sending some donations.

What better way to celebrate then with friends at the local brewery. All are welcome, The young, as well as the young at heart, The locals and those who live miles and miles away.
Whoever gathers at Milly's becomes friends regardless.

We need to post a picture of the attendees so please bring your favorite (or funniest) hat for the picture.
The picture will be titled
"We tip our hat to the Groundspeak Lackey's"

(If you are crafty and want to help with a special project for the event,
please e-mail me through my profile)

Geocaching History
On May 3, 2000, Dave Ulmer proposed a way to celebrate the demise of SA. He hid a bucket of trinkets in the woods outside Portland, Oregon and announced its location in a posting made to the USENET newsgroup sci.geo.satellite-nav. This announcement is remarkable for laying out the essence of the hobby that is still in place today. The rule of take something, leave something, sign the logbook. Dave Ulmer invented geocaching in one fell swoop in that newsgroup posting.

Within a day, the original stash had been found. Within days, more stashes had been hidden in California, Kansas, and Illinois. Within a month, a stash had been hidden as far away as Australia. The hobby was fast on its way to being a worldwide phenomenon.

"The Original Stash"

Geocaching and GPS's have come a long way since 2000. In the picture below Grampa Cardigan is showing the kids how to use the GPS unit during one of his many trips.
Thank you Grampa cardigan for allowing me to use this great photo as part of this event celebrating this great hobby / game / sport.

NOTES:

  • 03-30-10
One of the requirements to get the "Special" "10 Years!" Icon is we need a picture taken with more then 10 people.
Now I know getting 10 people will not be an issue, Where I am hoping to have more then 50.....way more.
But we need the pictutre "FESTIVE". Boula and Boulette are helping with one of the elements for the picture but we need to have a theme.

    I think W I L D a n d C R A Z Y will be a great theme since are all Wild and Crazy about caching.

I still want everyone to be wearing a hat, but please make them wild and crazy or big or unique, Get my drift? Not just a plain ballcap will do. If you happen to have 'extra' crazy hats please bring them to share with a friend. If you do not have a friend, just bring $10.00 and we will find one for you.

I am planning a few "fun" activities as well. If you have an idea to add to the celebration please let me know.

PICTURES, please post as many pictures as you can. Posed shots, candid shots, funny shots, cute shots and "I" will be available for those handsome shots (just let know).

Thanks and see you all then.

    • UPDATE #1
Be sure to bring a hat, a wild and crazy one of course. I have picked up some cheap hats that "YOU" will wear if you don't bring your own. So be warned. If you have extra wild and crazy hats please bring them with you.
Especially Birthday Party hats, since this is actually a birthday party.
    • UPDATE #2
To help out the waitstaff please be patient and try to combine tabs with others at your table. And Tip well, they will be working very hard to accomadate us and the regular customers.
    • UPDATE #3
    • Boula and Boulette came over last night and we created a very cool sign for us to take the picture with. Shortly after the meeting begins we will attempt to gather all by stage front and take a group picture to post online.
    • UPDATE #4
So we can get accurate numbers please be sure to log your "Will Attend" with the amount of attendees in your party.
