Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
You are looking for a
small metal pill-fob container larger than a buffalo tube with a
log only, so bring your own pen/pencil. While you are finding the
cache, enjoy the education lesson that TVA left behind. The cache
is located along the paved path and is easily reached by someone
sitting. Please replace as found, so others can enjoy both
the cache and the education provided by
TVA.

If you have traveled down Old Ferry Road (a.k.a. Eddyville Ferry
Road or KY 58) you have passed by this spot and probably never
thought about stopping. Since 1986, I have driven down this road
many times, and as I passed this structure, I always notice a paved
sidewalk, a parking lot, and what appeared to be an informational
sign. However, I never thought about stopping. Well all that
changed on March 7, 2010. While out on a cache maintainence run,
for some unknown reason, curiosity got the better of me and I
stopped.
I was staggered by what I found. TVA provided an education
information board about electricity transmission and the role
substations provide. As I continued on the path, I came to
another sign with more information about the parts of a substation
and what they do. By the look of the signs, they were there well
before 1986 and have fallen upon decay.
