FIFTH Annual
GCCO BBQ Potluck
On May
1st, 2000 the United States Government
announced that they would
be shutting off Selective Availability (SA) on Global Positioning
Satellites, effectively giving an instant upgrade to tens of
thousands of GPS receivers. Literally overnight, the accuracy of
civilian GPS receivers . On May 3rd
2000, Dave Ulmer placed the first "GPS Stash" (geocache) at
this

In case you didn't know yet, Groundspeak decided to create a
SPECIAL 10 Years! Anniversary Event Logo to commemorate the special
celebrations of this weekend. If you attend a Ten Years! Event and
are in the photo, this new and unique icon will show on your
"Found" page. *** HOW cool is that??!!? ***
We will also debut the New Geocaching Colorado
mascot, and recognize the cacher who submitted the winning
name!

We’ll hold another drawing with two of
the highly-coveted Geocaching Colorado Gold Coins and many other
cool items, including two limited edition Colorado "10 Years! "
Geocoins, and a Worldcaching.com hilarious caching T-shirt and swag
bag. If you’d like to donate items to the drawing, please let
us know.
We have a large pavilion (roof
and back wall) reserved with many picnic tables. There will plenty
of fun for the entire family,(whatever the weather!)
including:

Food ~
GCCO will be providing BBQ Sloppy Joes and buns for
all!!

Games,
including “Pin the Winch on the Rubicon”
·
Prizes
·
Piñatas,
kid’s cache, and other activities for the
kinder-cachers
As with all GCCO Events,
Geocachers of all experience levels are welcome. You don't need to
be an expert to eat a picnic lunch.
A limited number of a special Colorado version of the 10 Year
Anniversary coin will be available for sale for $10 each. Two of
these uniquely-colored coins will be offered in the drawing.
Please list in your log which
side dish, salad, or dessert you'll be bringing to share with the
hungry Geocachers. GCCO is providing Sloppy Joes for
all.
