This is the first cache that is part of the “Mackinaw City Maritime Tales” Trail. On June 21, 2006 the 290 foot long United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw (WAGB 83) arrived at her final mooring at the former Chief Wawatam railroad dock in downtown Mackinaw City, Michigan. Built in Toledo, Ohio and commissioned in December, 1944, her job was to help maintain the flow of iron ore throughout the winter months and proved essential to the World War II military campaign. The cache is small and contains a log to sign. A coin will be awaiting the FTFer. BYOP – Bring your own pencil for signing. This is a high muggle area in the summer months.
Please note: The Cache is not hidden on or around any of the private boats placed in storage. Permission was granted to hid the cache in this location.
