Another in the Veteran cache series - This one is dedicated to the
men and women who serve in the Coast Guard. Before Satellites were
used Loran was utilized for navigation this cache is near the
Searchlight, NV station. This base is now closed and the signal is
silent - As of Feburary 2010 if a need arises for Loran tracking
the base will be reopened - if there is found to be no further use
for Loran the land must be restored to desert and will be returned
to the BLM. Please take the time to read a short story about the
Coast Guard and the Searchlight station hidden in the cache. As
always please be aware of things that sting, poke and bite it is a
desert out there!
