Geocache Description:

Crossing Livistonia may pose a problem for some, however there are several alternative routes. Beware some routes are even more difficult than the crossing. This place is used as a short cut to a learning establishment on the other side so stealth can be required at times.

Livistona australis is Australia's southernmost plant of this type, with a range extending from Fraser Island in Queensland to Victoria. It grows to about 30m (100') tall and has a ringed, grey trunk and a dense crown of glossy green leaves with spiny stalks. It is a hardy garden plant which grows best planted in rich soil in a semi-shaded position. Cabbage Tree Creek has its headwaters near Arana Hills and flows eastwards through Bridgeman Downs, Carseldine and Zillmere, entering Moreton Bay near Shorncliffe. Little Cabbage Tree Creek rises in West Chermside and flows through Aspley, joining the main stream at Carseldine. Apley was settled in 1838 by German missionaries and was originally known as Little Cabbage Tree Creek because of the vast number of cabbage palms in the area. Case Study: Unfortunately the report card on Cabbage Tree Creek is not so good: http://www.wetlandlink.com.au/content/south-east-queensland-seq-healthy-waterways-report-card-initiative PLEASE cover the cache well as muggles seem to make a habbit of cache location in this area. Visitors to this area - in fact anywhere in the Northern Suburbs at the present time would find assistance for comfortable caching at this location at http://www.rid.com.au/tropical.htm
