Garwood, Id. In the summer, this is a beautiful drive and a gorgeous placement! However, I placed this in the winter when the road (Ohio Match Rd.) was horrible!! PLEASE DO NOT try to get this cache in the winter without a four-wheel drive vehicle! ROAD IS DANGEROUS when icy, please use Caution!! I rated this terrain a 5 for the winter due to the road and will change it come summer time.
Following the signs to the National Forest Entrance leads you on a beautiful drive through the woods of North Idaho towards a public day camp area. Nearby the "Forest Information" sign is the coolest landmark (This super cool hollowed out tree had been our original GZ, but we moved it for fear of it being muggled!)- check it out along with the beautiful creek while you are there! The last 100 feet to the GZ is a fairly steep incline so I would have to rate the terrain a 3 in the summer and a 5 in the winter to take in account the bad roads and slippery incline to the hollow that holds our cache. As previously noted, Ohio Match road is plowed but very icy so is dangerous without the proper vehicle and preparation in the winter! The road is windy with many drop-offs along the way. My car has studs but that wasn’t good enough - I got stuck pretty badly across from a drop-off with my car parked across the road! Luckily, we had passed several folks in the area driving trucks and SUVs with four wheel drive and one stopped to pull us out! Pirates of the St. Joe went up Hayden Creek road to get to this cache and apparently that road is a bit better than Ohio Match road, but I would still recommend four wheel drive in the winter! You are looking for an ammo can full of non-edible goodies! FTF gets a pair of mini LED flashlights each with 9 LED bulbs! **Congratulations to Pirates of the St. Joe for being the first to find!** Have a safe and happy caching trip!
