College Life
A WHERIGO GEOCACHE
The Geocache
|
The geocache is not at the posted
coordinates.
You are looking for a cammo'ed
peanutbutter jar. To find the geocache, you first need to play the
Wherigo cartridge with the same
name.
Prepare yourself for a real college life
experience! Life on the university is not easy, but it's fun - as
is this cartridge. You are slowly waking up in your dorm room with
a hangover and starting to remembering things...

Wherigo™
You get to go where I
go!
From Geocaching.com: Wherigo is a toolset for
creating and playing GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. By
integrating a Wherigo experience, called a cartridge, with finding
a cache, the geocaching hunt can be an even richer experience.
Among other uses, Wherigo allows geocachers to interact with
physical and virtual elements such as objects or characters while
still finding a physical geocache container. A Wherigo-enabled GPS
device is required to play a cartridge. Learn more at Wherigo.com.
(Your Geocaching.com
account and login works there too. There's no need to create a new
one. Awesome!)
When downloading the
Groundspeak Wherigo Cartridge (GWC file) from the Wherigo.com
website, you will have the option to save it to your computer so
that you can later upload it into your Wherigo playing device.
Extra periods in the filename seem to confuse the players. Be sure
to save the downloaded cartridge with a name that does not have any
extra periods. Just filename.gwc will do
(college_life.gwc in this case). This will prevent playing
problems with your Wherigo device.
For Garmin users, after
saving the cartridge to your computer, transfer that GWC file from
your computer to a Wherigo directory on your GPS receiver (or on
your SD card). For example, you probably already have a GPX
directory for Pocket Queries in a Garmin directory (J:\Garmin\GPX)
and possibly some BirdsEye aerial maps also in the Garmin directory
(J:\Garmin\BirdsEye). The Wherigo directory would be at the same
level as the Garmin directory (J:\Wherigo), not inside the Garmin
directory. Copy the GWC file from your computer to your receiver
inside the Wherigo directory. Disconnect your GPS receiver from
your computer; start up your receiver and get a good GPS signal; go
to the Wherigo cartridge player and go from there. College
Life should be one of the options available to play (maybe the
only option, if this is your first Wherigo experience).
The cartridge for this
adventure may be downloaded at:

REMEMBER:
- Make the fair
trade.
- Log your
visit.
- Leave the site
better than you found it.
- Protect the
environment — always.
- Educate those
around you.
- Find another
cache!
Good luck, and may
all your cache dreams come true.
