This technique will be immediately familiar to the geocacher. A dead drop is a location used by two individuals to exchange information without ever having to meet. Dead drops are triggered by the marking of a common place object (such as a mailbox or lamp post) with a removable marker such as chalk.

Items found in a dead drop may include maps, microfilm, airline tickets, passports, currency or objects of a more sinister nature. The benefit of this technique is that it does not require the two individuals to meet face to face to exchange information, or indeed at all. Agents must be careful, however, as a dead drop is also a brilliant way to spring a trap as discovered by Robert Hanssen on 18th February, 2001.

For this simple multi you will need to visit the listed coordinates, the location of your dead drop signal. You need to identify two numbers, ABC and DEFGHI, giving the cache coordinates as N 51 46.(B-A)(C)(G-A), W 001 14.(B+D)(B-H)(G-I)

The cache was to be a 35 mm container, but was changed to a small box as a last minute decision. Make sure you take a pen with you and please replace the camouflage as you found it (or better).

Remember to take special care near roads, especially with children.
