Geocache Description:

Easy access but located near a very busy intersection and local popular restruant.

I've lived here long enough to recall when Buena High School sat where Gas City and Lawley's are today. But I don't recall the building on the opposite corner where Chili's now sits. According to a new historical plaque, this was the site of the original Buena Elementry School. The original school was a two-room adobe-brick building that was erected by volunteers. It opened it's doors in 1915 and continued to serve as the local school until the construction of Carmichael Elementary in 1956. After Carmichael opened, the building was used as the district offices until 1986. If you've been in Beuna High School, the large clock in the center hallway is made from flooring from this original school. The cache is a nano so bring your own pencil. This is a high muggle area so ultra stealth is required. Once you've found it, take a moment and read the plaque at the sidewalk corner in front of the resturant. It includes a photo of the original school and I assume the students and teachers of 1915. Isn't it amazing how far we've came in a relatively short period of time? This cache qualifies for the Cochise County History Challenge. .
