Geocache Description:




Der Stuibenfall ist der höchste Wasserfall in Tirol. An manchen Tagen rauschen bis zu 2000 Liter Wasser pro Sekunde in die Tiefe.

Vor etwa 9000 Jahren stürzten ca. drei Milliarden Kubikmeter massives Gestein vom Westhang in das mittlere Ötztal. Dieser prähistorische Bergsturz riegelte dem Horlachbach in Niederthai den Weg ab und staute sich zu einem großen See auf. Der Bach musste sich einen neuen Abfluss suchen und bahnte sich über die Zeit einen Weg durch den Felsen. Reste des Felsen sind noch als natürliche Brücke erkennbar.

Eure Wanderung könnt ihr am Parkplatz in Umhausen beim Ötzidorf beginnen. Geht den Weg hinauf in Richtung Gasthof Stuböbele. Bis zum Gasthof lauft ihr ca. zehn Minuten, nach weiteren zehn Minuten Fußweg kommt ihr am unteren Teil des Wasserfalles an. Hier beginnt auch der Einstieg für den Stuibenfall-Klettersteig, bei dem ihr am Ende, als Highlight den Wasserfall überqueren könnt.Euch erwartet auf jeden Fall ein beindruckendes Naturerlebnis.

The Stuibenfall is the highest Waterfall of Tirol. At some days up to 2000 liters water per second goes in the deep.

9000 years ago three billion cubic meters massive stone overturns in the midle of oetz valley. This prehistoric landslide sealed off the way of the beck Horlachbach in Niederthai and dammed it up to a big lake. The beck has had to find a new outflow and so the beck cleaved a way through the rocks over the time. Rudiments of rocks are yet identifiable as natural bridges of rocks.

You could start your hike on the car park in Umhausen next to the famos Oetzi village. At first you go up the way to inn "Gasthof Stuböbele". You will reach the inn after 10 minutes. If you go further ca. 10 minutes you will arrive on the lower part of the Stuibenfall. Here is also the starting point for the climbing trail "Stuibenfall-Klettersteig". At the end of this climbing trail you may cross the fall via a hanging cable trail.In every case a formidable nature experience is waiting for you.
