Il Castello di Pietrabissara
Il Castello (in dialetto "Caste'") di Pietrabissara è quanto rimane di un antico edificio abbandonato intorno alla metà del XVII secolo, poi sede di un fortino tedesco nel secondo conflitto mondiale, nei pressi di uno sperone roccioso a picco sulla Valle Scrivia in uno dei suoi tratti più tortuosi, in corrispondenza del confine tra Liguria e Piemonte.
Qui si trovano tutt'oggi, racchiusi in pochi metri di distanza, la strada statale SS35, la linea ferroviaria dei Giovi e l'autostrada Genova-Serravalle. In questo posto strategico si poteva facilmente controllare il passaggio di uomini e mezzi da e per Genova nella stretta gola del Torrente Scrivia.
Ora non rimangono che le sole tracce delle murature di pietra ma il luogo rende bene l'idea di come doveva presentarsi la scena in passato, offrendo un bel panorama sulla valle sottostante.
Per raggiungere il geocache basta una semplice passeggiata dalla frazione di Pietrabissara, raggiungibile comodamente sia in auto che in treno. E' possibile lasciare l'auto nel parcheggio antistante la stazione ferroviaria e quindi percorrere la strada comunale che conduce alla frazione di Borlasca, fino all'incrocio con la località La Villa (44°39.254'N, 8°55.218'E). Di qui si segue la salita fino al tornante (44°39.274'N, 8°55.364'E), infilandosi nel bosco (44°39.272'N, 8°55.371'E) e risalendo il sentiero fino a raggiungere il crinale (44°39.283'N, 8°55.433'E) dove un breve sentiero vi condurrà a destinazione.
Per chi vuole evitare gran parte della salita a piedi, segnalo che è possibile giungere fino al tornante in auto (la strada fin qui è tutta asfaltata), essendo presente un'area per il parcheggio, spesso libera. Non proseguite oltre il tornante, in quanto la strada diventa subito ripida e stretta, finendo nell'abitato di Villa, dove non c'è neanche spazio per fare manovra. Anche a piedi, evitate di salire fino a Villa, preferendo il più rapido sentiero che sale proprio a metà del tornante.
Una volta trovato il cache, tornate indietro al sentiero proseguendo a destra fino al waypoint "Panorama" e mettete qui la vostra foto!
Nei mesi di settembre-ottobre-novembre-dicembre la zona è soggetta a battute di caccia nei giorni di mercoledì e domenica, quindi prestate molta attenzione a non essere scambiati per un cinghiale!

The Castle of Pietrabissara
The Castle (in dialect "Caste'") of Pietrabissara is what remains of an ancient building abandoned around the middle of the seventeenth century, later the site of a German fort in the Second World War, near a rocky spur overlooking the Scrivia Valley in one of its most tortuous stretches, at the border between Liguria and Piedmont.
Here are today, encased within a few meters away, the state road SS35, the "Giovi" railway line and the highway Genoa-Serravalle. In this strategic place you could easily control the passage of people and equipment to and from Genoa in the narrow gorge of Torrente Scrivia.
Now it remains that the only traces of stone masonry but the site gives a good idea of how the scene must have appeared in the past, offering a beautiful view over the valley below.
To reach the geocache just a simple walk from the village of Pietrabissara, easily reached by car or train. You can leave your car in the parking lot near the railway station and then take the local road leading to the village of Borlasca, until crossing at La Villa (44°39,254'N, 8°55,218'E). From here follow the route up to the hairpin (44°39,274'N, 8°55,364'E), slipping into the woods (44°39,272'N, 8°55,371'E) and up the path until you reach the ridge (44°39,283'N, 8°55,433'E) where a short path leads you to your destination.
For those who want to avoid much of the climb on foot, I point out that it is possible to reach the hairpin bend by car (the road so far is all paved), as there is a parking area, often available. Do not continue beyond the bend, as the road immediately becomes steep and narrow, ending in the town of Villa, where there is not even room to maneuver. Even on foot, avoid climbing up to Villa, preferring the faster path that climbs right in the middle of the bend.

During the months of September-October-November-December the area is subject to hunting on every Wednesday and Sunday, so be careful not to be mistaken for a wild boar!
