Geocache Description:


If you completed the entertaining multi-cache "The Treehouse" in the northern end of Wissahickon Valley Park, you would know that the final coordinates leads you near the Wissahickon Environmental Center housed in an old rustic building. At one time a giant tree grew through its front porch - ergo its name. "That's nice," I hear some of you say, "but I want to see a REAL Tree house."

You're in luck! Unbeknownst to many, there is an honest-to-gosh, bona fide tree house in the park. Swiss Family Robinson it ain't, but it's still pretty impressive! The only disappointment is that even if you could find a way to climb the tree, you are not permitted into the house itself. Instead, I suggest that you gaze upon this sturdy large structure and to use your pent up energy to find a cache hidden nearby. It is a regular lock 'n lock container, filled with goodies, located beside a trail leading to, and a short distance from, said tree house.

The closest, and easiest trail-head is at the end of W. Wigard Street (see coordinates below). From there, it is a relatively flat trip, a little over 1/10 of a mile, along a packed dirt path. Be sure to bring the kids as well as your own inner-child - you won't be disappointed!
