Geocache Description:

This cache is a short multi, the co-ords above are for the first cache, which contains the co-ords for the end cache, it is a micro cache, please replace it carefully so as not to loose the magnets. The cache had to be put out as a multi like this due to the closeness of another cache View of Fraggle Rock 4 - Fore! Which if you are in the area is well worth the extra little walk to get.
The final cache is placed near a monument dedicated to Falmouths Home Guard.

When you mention The Home Guard most people think Dads Army! However rather than being a bunch of fools and old men the home guard was made up from people in reserved occupations, such as farmers and docks workers. It was also made up of men to old or young to be called up. These men would spend a day working and then spent there evenings and nights patroling the coast to watch for any signs of German invasion. They also had many exercises so they were ready for the invasion everyone was sure would happen. This must have been exhausting!!
When they were first formed they were poorly armed and had little military experience, but as the war progressed they turned into a well trained fighting force, and these brave men were ready to fight to keep our country free from the Nazis if they invaded.
There is a lot of evidence for the trench systems they used, one of which can be seen infront of the monument, although most of the trench systems have either been filled in and now just look like shallow ditches, or are covered in brambles.

Putting this cache out we were actually muggled by Ivan and the terriers! Thats the first time thats ever happened! But it was nice to meet up with another cacher.

The cache should be an easy find, it is a short walk from Swanpool Beach on the SWCP. The route to the cache may be muddy at times.
