Om Kyrkja, skrev Emanuel Mohn i DNTs årbok 1874:
Kyrkja ("The church") is a popular peak in Jotunheimen with great views. The summit is at 2032 meters above sea level (masl) and no climbing gear is needed.
Easy walk/climb to appox 1900 masl, then two fairly easy steps before the summit.
The cache is located on the highest point.
There are no cell phone coverage in the area and the ridge consists of stones only. Recommend that hint and spoiler pictures are printed out for an easy find.
Leirvassbu is a great startingpoint for this cache. Round trip from Leirvassbu is 4-5 hours.
Kyrkja is in many ways the center of Jotunheimen. A drop of rain can take four different directions if it falls on Kyrkja.
- Down Visdalen via Lom, Ottadalen and Mjøsa and out in the sea near Fredrikstad.
- Down Gravdalen and to Øvre Årdal and out in Sognefjorden.
- Down Leirdalen and via Bøverdalen to Lom and joining the droplet that took the way via Visdalen.
- Down Storåe to Gjende and north via Sjoa and out in Gudbrandsdalen, where it meet its friends that took the routes via Lom.
