Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of caches. Each one is an individual cache, and together they lead to a final destination, with a prize for the first to find. All the caches are micros, with no pen/cils.

The historical population of Dartmoor used to obtain their water supply from rivers, springs, and where possible, wells.

One of the better known wells can be found in Widecombe-on-the-Moor, known as The Saxon Well. It has had various mystical properties attached to it: it is said to cure illness, particularly eye complaints. It is also reputed to never run dry, and perhaps most useful of all, it can defeat the Devil!

In more recent times it has been proclaimed a wishing well, but either way, it’s a charming construction, and the cache is hidden nearby.

Note that satellite reception is poor at the cache site, and stealth is required.

This cache is part of the Heart of Dartmoor Series. Inside the cache is a number that will help you to find the Heart of Dartmoor Bonus
