Geocache Description:

You should access this cache off Hwy 27---to 700----then take Taylor Ridge Road. You will take a gravel road to the cache site. When the road forks, take the right side. It is a bit of a drive, but very worth it. NOTE: IF YOU TAKE THE OTHER FORK, IT LEADS TO A NICE STREAM AREA.
----we learned the woods had burned and someone replaced cache for us, small now instead of regular.

This is a cemetary tucked away in the midst of the Daniel Boone National Forest. It is between the waters of Barren Fork and Pigeon Roost Branch, on a long ridge known as Taylor Ridge, that ends at the junction of these 2 streams.
In the early 1900's when the Barren Fork mines were operating, there were several small farms along these ridges. As evidenced by burials here, the Sumners, Taylors, Bryants, and Stephens lived nearby.
Some of the people buried here have birthdates prior to the Civil War. At one time there was a school (Pigeon) nearby. There are 43 identifiable graves and 47 unidentifiable ones here. There are many children.

Please visit the cemetary while you are here. The cache is a regular sized container hidden in the usual way, but not actually in the cemetary itself. There are several trade items for children and also a camera. Please take a picture of your group, yourself, your pet or anything you would like. We will develop the pictures and leave in the cache box for others to enjoy!
