During the Cold War the U.S. Military constructed 16 Nike
Missile sites around the Los Angles area. The first one was
operation in 1950 and the last one was decommissioned in 1974.
Today little remains of this interesting part of L.A. defense
history. This is the location of the L-29 Battery Launch Facility
(L). This battery had an AN/FPS-71 and an AN/FPA-16 ABAR unit. The
Magazines and Erector location have been removed and graded over.
You can still see rubble from the removal of the magazines.
