Geocache Description:

Alpine Meadows is a small housing area between Truckee and Tahoe City on Highway 89. It can be challenging to find a house in this area for less than $500K. But there is one option. Back in the 1990's someone built a treehouse on the other side of Bear Creek, which runs down the valley in Alpine. According to a friend an employee at the local ski area actually lived here during the winter. Hard to believe. More recently the Forest Service demoed the tree house. But there is lots of evidence still there.

If you straight-line the cache you will have to cross Bear Creek. If the water is running fast that can be tricky. There is another way that does not require any water crossing. If you do explore the creek you might see a beaver dam. I did when I came here in the fall. In the late spring and early summer you will likely see lots of Mule's Ears blooming.

Please be careful around GZ as there are nails... The cache is at the perimeter of the debris so you don't need to walk through the middle.
