Footbridge at the confluence of St Sundays beck and Millbeck
Two paths come southbound from our "Bee Happy" cache (initially through a wonderful garden in front of Greenways, the bungalow opposite the cache) however the path direct across to the Stainton Lane is currently closed due to bridge collapse. Take a look, the collapse is rather cartoon style, but no doubt rather serious for the vehicle involved.
Please take care crossing the garden as although the footpath is legitimate, it is private property and passes very close to the house.
The path splits once back into the field, turn east and follow the wall, skirting this splendid garden and head back for Millbridge Lane and cross St Sundays beck at this footbridge where it crosses the recombined streams from the old mill races.
From the A65 end, the path is signposted from the road but avoid shorts due to waist deep nettles near the stile. Keep to the field edge and although the path is at best indistinct the farmer will be glad of some walkers trampling down the Himalayan balsam, or so mrs demon says.
The tongue between the two streams is bridged from Greenways garden and a racetrack is marked out and the turf shows quite some wear, not sure as to the vehicles sporting this way but it brings an alternative slant to the term Mill Race.
Oh, and due to demon incompetence I'm afraid its a BYOP or writing implement of choice!
