If you like a nice hike in the woods and then finding a large ammo
can with swag, then this cache is for you. If you enjoy looking for
a film cantainer with nothing but a small log then this one is for
you also!
Finding the ammo box should be easy once you make the half mile
one way hike. The catch to this cache is finding and signing the
log. Inside the ammo box you will see 33 film containers in
assorted colors. The log is in one of the film containers. Nothing
evil here like the log being hidden in a false bottom or some other
devious hide. You can easily find it by trial and error--its in one
of 33 containers. Maybe trying some logic or cleverness will help
you find it sooner.
Now that additional logging requirements are not permitted, the
next part is voluntary. Please log how many tries it takes to
find the log. One of every 33 people on average will get it on
the first try, but likewise one of 33 cachers may have to look
throug a lot of film containers. Average peformance will be to get
it on the 17th try. Can you beat the odds.!
Because Iron Hill is notorious for jumping co-ords, there is a
very specific hint to help you. Take the right trails and there is
no more than about 30 feet of bushwhacking. For best results, take
the trail behind the pavillion and head toward the very nice Iron
High cache (GC1QC1R). There are trail junction waypoints to assist
you. You can make it a nice loop hike since there are two ways to
get to this cache. I think the trail to the right side of the
junction is the nicest trail in the park.
