Geocache Description:

Welcome to Mayo Memorial Park

I have always enjoyed coming to this park...it may be small, but it does offer a good view of the area (Civic Center, Government Center, and the downtown skyline)...overall, the park is usually very peaceful and relaxing. Though, the hardest part for those not living in the immediate area can be parking...most of the area is covered by "Permit Parking Only"...so, be very careful and aware of where you park. One of the most interesting parts of the park is that it is situated along one (and first) of three confluences within Rochester city limits of the Zumbro River and it's tributaries...

Confluence:
-In geographical terms, this is used to describe the meeting of two or more bodies of water. It usually refers to the point where a smaller body (typically a called a tributary) joins a more major body of water.
-In terms of location, this also describes a location where integer latitude and integer longitude lines cross. Example N92 Degrees 00.000 Minutes by W092 Degrees 00.000 Minutes.

In this case, we are referring to the geographical meaning of confluence. More specifically, this confluence is located very near downtown Rochester (the Government Center can be seen in the background)...the confluence is of Bear Creek (from the left) and Zumbro River (from the top-center) with both flowing off to the right. It may not be a major confluence worthy of world-wide recognition...but it was always been a favorite spot of mine in the area.

Depending on the season and time of day, retreiving this cache may take a bit of stealth...of note would be Rochester Summer Concerts and other such events...as well as local fisherman making use of the area.

Also note...at the moment, you are looking for a Nano container...it will be upgraded to something a bit larger in the near future...all I had that was smaller than an ammo box was a nano...sorry...

Update 09/16/2011: No Longer a Nano...
