This cache was placed for an upcoming event for the new cacher in the family GPS_JUNKY 4. The event was on May 30th. 2009. Just placed to have some new caches in the area for people like "DOC" who got them all from the area all ready. Not quite a P & G but close too it. Tried to hide 20 caches today so the cords might be a little off. If they are, post your cords. I will get updated right away. Oh yea, I didn't have any pens to put in cache, so bring your own.

MANAGEMENT: Largemouth bass are the most common gamefish. The walleye population is only moderate despite much stocking since the mid 80s. Muskellunge and northern pike numbers are fairly low. Carp are not a serious problem. This is one of the few lakes in the area that contain white bass. Bluegills and crappies are common with an average size distribution.
FISHING INFORMATION: This lake near Amery in southern Polk County are the type you think about during those long winter months when all you can do is fantasize about a summer fishing trip. No: it's not top - tier lake like Balsam and Bone, but its not far removed, occupying a narrow niche above the second - tier lake in a county known for good fishing. In these lakes, you'll find only moderate fishing pressure. And, though there are good numbers of recreational boaters on the lakes, they don't whip these waters into a froth the way they do on some northern Wisconsin lakes. you'll find a nice fishery. According to Rick Cornelius, former area DNR fisheries manager, there are good numbers of largemouth bass and panfish in these lakes, in addition to low numbers of big walleyes. And, as if that's not enough, these are potential tropy muskie waters. Says Genny Carlin, owner of Gen's Bait and Sport Shop, highway 46, Amery, WI 54001, (715) 268-6231, There are some huge muskies. Every year I see two or three in the 30-pound range, and there are lots more I don't see." Fish them primarily along the west shore of the lake, using jerkbaits or bucktails as the weeds srface, and 12-inch or larger suckers in the late summer or fall. You'll also find them in or near the channel connecting Wapogaset and Bear Trap (SPOT 1) and in the southwest bay (SPOT 2). Early in the year, you'll find walleyes around the small island at the north end (SPOT 3) and in the weed beds to the south. Later, thy'l shift to the shallow bars that dot the lake. Look for bass and panfish off the Bible camp on the southeast.
