Geocache Description:

This is a cache and dash that was placed becasue we found a GC that needed to be placed within line of site of your parked vehicle and we didn't know of a cache like it.

This should be a simple find but you may have to park across where the cache is ( you'll understand when you get there ) as there is some kind of a business park across the road. We placed the cache on an evening when no one was working so not sure how busy it will be through the day. Sandford forest is next to the cache with some flat paths that would be suitable for pushchairs if you fancy going for a walk while you're there.

Interesting things to look for while you're there : If you walk from the cache into the forest, over the little bridge and along the path for a few minutes you'll see a big concrete structure to the right hand side ( see google earth for pics ) This structure is a flak tower, Flak towers were erected to the east and west of the Royal Navy Cordite Factory at Holton Heath in Dorset and were designed to accomodate Bofors 40mm anti-aicraft guns. The towers are arranged in pairs and although the eastern pair are in remarkably good state of preservation the western towers are starting to collapse as a consequence of rabbits burrowing into the sandy substrate beneath the tower foundations. It is worth noting that the paired towers are separated by a small gap in order that percussive vibration from one tower was not transmitted to the other during firing of the cannon. Part of ( all of ) this infomation was taken from this website so if you'd like more info and pics look here

The disused MOD buildings were also used in the making and filming of the ITV series of Bad Lads Army: Extreme (2006)
