This cache is a 50 cal ammo can located in the Blue Mountain Provincial Forest, near where we were looking for four overdue Suzuki Samurais.
On the evening of November 28,1998, Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue received a call for two overdue 4x4's near the powerlines on Blue mountain. Both of the vehicles were identified as Suzuki Samurais.
As we were establishing our command center on the main road north of McNutt Rd, we received another call from the RCMP advising us that they had received a call about an overdue Samurai on Blue Mountain. We initially assumed that it was for one of the vehicles associated with the first call we received. Further investigation revealed that this was not the case, and that we were now looking for three overdue trucks.
After all of our team members had been assigned to tasks, we received yet another call regarding a single Samurai reported overdue on Blue Mountain. This time we were absolutely sure that this call was in reference to one of the three already reported. Wrong again, and we were in fact now looking for FOUR overdue trucks.
After searching the main roads and some of the lower trails, all four vehicles were located, together, stuck north of the powerlines and east of McNutt road. All of the individuals associated with the trucks were located in good condition.
The biggest challenge to finding this cache will be parking. The closest route in is from the north end of McNutt, but the nearby roads are all no-parking zones and well-enforced!
GPS reception was quite "erratic", so the hint is quite specific.
We took new readings from closer to GZ while up on a maintenance visit so if you want to try them: N 49 14.947 W 122 27.266. If these work out, please let us know and we'll update the real coords. Thanks.
