Geocache Description:

At the exit of Oix direction Beget, in the indicated waypoint, I recommend to park and walk. According to the car you can follow for a track that keeps on worsening

Under the cliffs of Ferran, contemplating the waters of the stream of Beget that slip towards the Llierca, there is the antique sanctuary of the Mare de Déu d’Escales
The architecture of the temple is very complicated, reaching practically all the periods of the Romanesque. The low part of the walls corresponds to the 10th century; the upper part and the cover of slab date from the 11th century; the galilea attached to the west facade is from XII and the absis, semicircular, with cornice and central window has been dated of XIII. The belfry, of square tower with openings to four winds and roof in two slopes, is accessed from the outside.
Santa Maria d'Escales was a parish until the finishing of XVI, going to depending then on Sant Llorenç d'Oix.
