Geocache Description:

Large lock n' lock in FULL CAMO,
AT
the above cache page coordinates,
but can ONLY be found and logged if the rules listed below are followed:

The Roman mile consisted of 1000 double paces, 5000 Roman feet, 1480 meters, or 1619 yards. That's about 4,856 feet today, or .92 mile. Distances on Roman roads were measured by odometers attached to carriage axles, and marked on milestones. According to the ancient Roman system, a gilded pillar was placed by the emperor Augustus in the Forum Romanum to mark the beginning point of the vast network of roads that extended out throughout the whole empire. Milestones were used to mark every mile from the Eternal City. No traveler would mistake the fact that he was on a Roman road and upon imperial domain.

Many milestones even had information etched in them, such as how far to the next town or stable. The legions created these roads and used them for quick maneuvering among provinces. There were roadside Inns, taverns, and hotels. Augustus believed strongly that international trade was important to the prosperity and peace of the empire and his Pax Romana (Roman peace - from 27BC to 180 AD when the Empire was at its prime).

From this history, the term "milestone" is still used today in many ways marking various achievements and measurements. Many cachers enjoy keeping track of finds, and even celebrating certain milestones by attending events, or finding special caches. I am interested enough to list my milestones, and the milestones of finders of my hides on my profile page - check it out!

RULES TO LOG THIS CACHE:
1. This cache has to be a "milestone" for you.
2. For this cache, a milestone is:
a. any total caches find that is a multiple of 100.
b. any Mystery/Puzzle caches find that is a multiple of 100.
3. Unlike some Challenge caches, you CAN NOT find this cache and write your geotag on the paper log at any time, and then log it online once you reach a milestone - that goes against the spirit of milestones! See rule #1! Be very careful how you enter the order of finds if your milestone is a part of multiple finds in one day. Geocaching.com will rank them in the order you enter them.
4. I will check profiles to verify claimed milestones.
5. All finds on this cache will be listed on my profile in the milestones section.
6. Examples of acceptable finds: 300th total find, 2,000th total find, 32,100th total find, 100th Mystery/Puzzle cache find...
7. Examples of unacceptable finds: (Any find that isn't a multiple of 100 for either total finds or Mystery/Puzzle cache finds) the 200th time you cached on Saturday, the 800th time you cached with your friend...
8. FTF has to be a milestone!

Cache location is an area that could be part of the shoreline series in SACC, except it's a bit too far under water. Easiest approach is from the trail/road that Shoreline # 16 is on - just continue down and bear right before the road turns left - but your final approach is atop a steep slope that I don't want anyone slipping, tripping, or stumbling down. Leave children at the fence! From the cache location you get a good view of the "new" river, the man-made rapids, and the foundation of the dam's western footing.

Hint is a give-away only if you need it!

Congrats to yabetterduk for FTF!
