Geocache Description:

This cache can either be a nice walk from the village or a cache and dash.

This site was spotted whilst coming back along the river from Pawlett Wharves cache and it is so out of place in the Somerset countryside it deserved a cache. This old hanger was home to a military research team who launched a hot air balloon, then flew planes at it trying to cut the cables! Amazingly there were no accidents. The hanger is large so that the balloon never needed to be deflated. More details and the proper science bit can be found on The Somerset County Council Historical Environmental Record website.

The best approach and view is coming down the lane, marked as the waypoint from Chapel Road.

This is a nano cache. Please take care when removing and replacing the cache. A pen and a pokey tool will be required.
