Geocache Description:

This cache is located along the new Missouri Research Park Trail connector, a ¾-mile paved hiking/biking trail from a small parking lot to the Katy Trail in Weldon Springs. The cache has room for some small trade items.

Update: B'ar has been bathed and dried and cache has been moved about 30 feet from its original location and placed in a more substantial container. Hopefully, this one won't have so much critter activity. Coordinates have been adjusted and hopefully will provide reasonable accuracy (please advise). A new log container is placed in the same manner as the old one (you don't have to add a cache log, just look for the existing one). Cache removal and replacement may be just a little more tricky. Enjoy!

The trail is a relatively flat walk from parking to the Katy trail, and towards the Missouri River. It’s conceivable that an early citizen settler of the area, Daniel Boone, may have traveled this way in his meanderings and spotted a “b’ar” as the black bear was commonly found here in the early 1800’s (and is slowly making a comeback in Missouri).

So, enjoy the trail and your brief sojourn here for the finding of this cache. While you shouldn’t see any black bear on this visit, you may encounter other common fauna and flora, including wood ducks (watch for nesting boxes along the trail).

Thanks to the staff at the Missouri Research Park for examining our proposal for caches along the trail and granting permission. Please remember that you are their guest, practice CITO, and report any problems or issues you may encounter to the proper authority, or to me, as the cacheowner, and I will relay the information.

Parking for trail hiking, biking and geocaching is at the waypoint listed below.
