A Black Diamond Historical Tour Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dgwphotos: Unfortunately, it appears that the log it was hidden around was completely removed. The trail is going to be closed for a culvert replacement for a year, so I don't believe I will be able to keep the spot, in any case.

Geocache Description:

This cache will lead you on a historic tour of Black Diamond with four waypoints in town, and the final along the grade of the Pacific Coast Railroad north of town. The above coordinates will lead you to the Black Diamond Museum, where you will begin your historic tour. You may need a calculator.

Out of respect for the museum's property, please do not visit the museum at night.

The checksums are the sum of the coordinates for each stage.
At the above coordinates, you will need to know what year the Columbia and Puget Sound Railroad became the Pacific Coast Railroad, then add the number of spokes in the mine hoist wheel. This will be 19A.

Waypoint two: N47 18.(A + 419) W122 00.(A + 354).

At Waypoint two, you will need the number of letters in the name of the business, which is one of the oldest businesses in town, then add the number of metal benches in front of the business. This will be B. Include all three words in the name.

Waypoint three: N47 18.(A+B + 383) W122 00.(A+B + 69).

At Waypoint three, you will see the only remaining artifact of the Black Diamond coal mining operations. Count the number of bolts on the top of the foundation visible from this spot. This number will be C.

Waypoint four: N47 19.(A+B+C+140) W122 00.(A+B+C+298).

At Waypoint four, you will see the tailings pile of the largest mine of the Black Diamond coal mining operations.

How many letters are in the name of the company with the same initials as the Pacific Coast Coal Company, who ran the town, mines and railroad, and took over many of the assets of Pacific Coast? Add the sum of the numbers on the front of the cab of the bucket loader south of the sign. The total will be D.

The coordinates for the final are N47 20.(A+B+C+D+331), W122 01.(A+B+C+D+53 )

The cache is a camouflaged medium lock and lock.
