Geocache Description:

Photobucket

This is a very simple and easy to find cache on Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

The catch here is in getting to it.

By far, the easiest way to get to Great Stirrup Cay is on a cruise ship, as they stop here regularly, and we imagine that most finders of this cache will be cruise ship passengers.

However, the cache is on Bahamian Crown Land, public and freely accessible to all. You can't really arrive by road, but there is a government dock nearby, many public beaches available for watercraft, and of course the airport, Great Stirrup International. (though don't look too hard for airline service anytime soon.... see picture below.)

The Cache !!

Probably what most people will do, is this cache simultaneously with "Stop Eating and Take a Walk" GC9F22 (though this is not required at all).

This cache is in close proximity to Great Stirrup International Airport, which is itself 50 meters or so off the trail towards the final of "Stop Eating and Take a Walk". Once you're at the airport, there is a good trail from the North East corner of the helipad (coords below) that leads more or less directly to the right spot. When you see the large concrete box structure, you're getting close. When you see that pile of things which often hides a geocache, you're burning up.

The cache is a sandwich sized Tupperware container, with 3 TB's (at placing) and a logbook ........ That's pretty much it, but take note that you're away from the crowds for a bit, the breeze is nice and towards the water are some great views, some tide pools, and a small mystery.... what exactly was here anyhow.... a dock?.... something military?.... something else?....

Thanks in advance for everyone's help with this...

Have a fantastic day on Great Stirrup Cay.

A small note on cache maintenance....As a part of my vocation, I am in fairly close range of this cache every 4 to 8 weeks, which should hopefully be sufficient to keep things running smoothly..........We have also enlisted the help of a couple of the cayes permanent residents, who will help out if required....
