Riverview Park is a 287-acre park on Pittsburgh's North Side. The park is known for it's wooded trails and hillsides. It features over eleven miles of hiking and walking trails, which are shared with horseback riders. Also there is a two-mile loop on the asphalt road that circles the upper portion of the park this is used by walkers, joggers and bikers on a daily basis.

Riverview Park also has a large variety of wildlife including deer, squirrels, raccoons and many more as well as a large variety of birds.

“Lost in the Valley” is a Two-Part Multi- Cache located in the lower half of Riverview Park off Kilbuck Drive. From the recommended starting point to the final cache location is approximately ¾ - 1 mile round trip, if you follow the trails. We rated it a 2 for terrain if you follow the trails, since our 6-year-old daughter walked and climbed without much help.

Recommended Starting Point-
N 40* 28.790
W 080* 00.958

Your Starting Point- The Valley Refuge is located on Kilbuck Drive. You CANNOT access Kilbuck Drive by driving from the main entrance of the park. To get there take Brighton Road to Westborn Street. Follow Westborn Street to Grand Avenue. Take Grand Avenue into the lower half of Riverview Park. Grand Avenue becomes Kilbuck Drive. Follow Kilbuck Drive past Pittsburgh Department of Public Works, Division 1 Facility. The Valley Refuge area is straight ahead. This is the starting point for “Lost in the Valley”

The woodland trails in the lower portion of the park are well used. In fact, when we placed the two stage cache, it was snowing and 20 degrees, we saw a number of people walking their dogs. So be very aware of MUGGLES in the area.

The Riverview Park woodland trails in this area of the park are very well maintained and you will find stone benches strategically placed along the trails for quick rest.
