While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed, and it is time to have it listed once again it will be no problem as long as it still meets the guidelines. Just drop me a note( by email at Mongo@geocachingadmin.com) and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Mongo

Geocache Description:

Located along Platte County's new Brush Creek Trail System. Cache hide is not too difficult but the terrain is a 3.5 considering the need to hike to the cache, and some uphill bushwhacking. This is not a cache you can park next to.

Enjoy some of Platte county's pioneer and agricultural history with this traditional cache located along the Brush Creek Trail system.

The cache itself is located among the remains of an old homestead that appears to be a family farm that went belly up in the early to mid twentieth century. My limited research indicates that this plot in "Township 51 north of baseline in range 32, west of 5 principle meridian" was once owned by a J. Avery though there is little to tell us if this was his actual farm.

The best access points are off of Brink-Meyer road which will result in a long hike OR for a shorter hike from the foot bridge to the Geo. T. Naylor pioneer cemetery located at N 39 11.770 W 094 45.558. (Near waste- water treatment plant along FF). The Naylor family owned much of the land here and around the Avery plot and their Platte County history can be easily Google searched. Don't miss the chance to visit this historic site.

You'll know you're near the cache when you see the the old barn but the cache is not located there. FYI - on the day I placed the cache my GPS read .899 & .340 (last digits of the lat/long), while another cacher with me read .894 and .343.
