Note: As you start up the road towards Shinall Mountain you will notice a large No Trespassing sign on the right. This is in reference to the private land on the right side of the road at this point. All roads up to and on Shinall Mountain are public thoroughfares.
After the January 11, 2008 collapse of KATV’s former tower near Redfield, Arkansas, KATV began broadcasting from Shinall Mountain using KTHV’s backup analog transmitter and a digital subchannel of KWBF. They received FCC approval to relocate their new permanent tower to this spot on Shinall Mountain in June 2008. The new tower is 1200 feet tall and is the second tallest tower on Shinall Mountain. Engineers have calculated that due to the height of Shinall Mountain in combination with the height of the new tower that the signal will be almost identical to the pattern of the old 2,000 foot Redfield tower.
I thought a lot of people would like to see the new tower, so I planted a cache close by to give each of you cachers another reason to come see the new KATV tower.
You are looking for a container about the size of a 35 mm film canister.
Congratulations to majii on the First-to-Find!!!
