Geocache Description:

A very easy drive-by cache designed for inexperienced cachers

Te Kiri is a dairy-farming district, which used to have a local post office and public school, but both have now closed. On Government maps the settlement is named Puniho. It is situated on the Eltham-Opunake road, six miles to the west of Eltham, and nineteen to the east of Opunake. Te Kiri lies south-by-west from Mount Egmont, is in the Opunake survey district of the Taranaki land district, and formed part of the Waimate riding of the old county of Hawera. The school closed in 2005 and is now the subject of a Treaty of Waitangi claim. Te Kiri also had a very good hockey team but the club has since folded.
