Geocache Description:

Kokopelli may have originally been a representation of ancient Aztec traders, known as Pochteca. These men also used flutes to announce themselves as friendly as they approached a settlement.

Kokopelli is one of the most easily recognized figures found in the Petroglyph and Pictograph of the Southwest region of the United States. The earliest known petroglyph of the figure dates to about A.D. 1000.

Kokopeli is also one of the area’s seasoned geocachers with over 2000 finds and 50 hides!

I was viewing Google Earth images around Redding and spotted this feature (from about 500 ft. above) and said to myself – that looks like Kokopelli curled up taking a nap (perhaps a little imagination will help); thus another cache was born!

You DO NOT NEED TO CLIMB INTO ANY PLANTER AREAS. Please do not distirb this area of delicate vegetation by walking in any planters.

Happy caching, and listen for the flute music.
