Geocache Description:

A moderately difficult walk to an interesting sandstone cave. This area is littered with caves. The bushranger, Martin Cash, is said to have used one as a hideout in the mid 1800's. "Handsome Cave" is one of only a few that is not on private property.

The first thing to note is that Handsome Caves Road is incorrectly marked on many maps (including Google Earth). Don't be tempted to drive up to the cache by any other road, they pass through private property. Park near S 42 43.950 E147 04.601 (which is on the actual Handsome Caves Road) and continue on foot for about 1.7km (one way). If you are feeling adventurous, you can cut the amount of walking by more than half if you have a 4WD and full comprehensive insurance. The road gradually deteriorates to little more than a walking track, but is fairly well defined, although you will have to negotiate a few fallen trees on the way.
To the best of our knowledge, the road and track are on public land. Certainly www.thelist.com.au seems to show this very clearly. However, you should be aware that the track divides here and there with more tracks that lead on to private property. Stay on the main track.
The walk took us about 3 hours, but we took our time because we're unfit.
There's no mobile phone reception at GZ, take spare batteries and a camera.
Enjoy.
