The cache is located at a place I spend alot of my spare time. Besides being a place frequented by many locals it also is the official home of the Murray State University Men's and Women's golf teams.
The facility was built on land donated in 1979 by L. D. Miller, a 1937 MSU Alumnus and prominent Murray businessman. The course bears the name of his late wife, Frances Emerson Miller, an avid golfer who passed away in 1976. The main building at the facility was later donated and modeled after Miller's former home which is located in Murray. The clubhouse recently underwent a major renovation to bring it up to date and to offer more amenities.
The location can be very busy especially on weekends or when it is hosting tournaments.
There is no cost to park. The cache is a large camouflaged lock-n-lock located in an obvious location near the parking area for the clubhouse. Hole #18 will be on your left as you pass through the gates and head up the hill to the parking. This hole is one of the more challenging par 3 holes on the course with a tee shot over water. However there have been several Hole in Ones (Aces) on this hole including two by a colleague and good friend of mine. I actually got to witness his second during the Summer of 2008.
Please only cache when the gates are open which is from sun up to sun down. Please no overnight caching. Permission was granted to place this cache by the manager, Will.
I hope you enjoy the visit and have a chance to visit some of the other caches outside of Murray.
